  • Carols Around The Tree

Thu 19 Dec 2019 Year 6 News Team

As a result of the rain and the possibility of a cancelled event, we decided that the show must go on!  Each year had the opportunity to sing around the beautiful Christmas tree, but not just that... they even accompanied their songs with some Makaton.  Everyone had so much fun singing carols, and even Brigit (our PAT dog) joined in the festivities.  Thank you to everyone for helping make the event so special.  Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Please see our Gallery page under Children for the videos.

  • Victorian Day

Mon 09 Dec 2019 Year 6 News Team

    Year 5 Victorian Day:

Victorian Day took place on Wednesday 27thNovember. The Year Fives experienced the school life of an ordinary Victorian child; a similar way it would have been over 100 years ago. It took place in the clock school – an actual Victorian school.

“It was fun but strict. My favourite part was when we had to construct bridges out of lollipop sticks, string and split pins. We also learnt that 12 shillings create £1.” Zoe Prescott Year 5.

When the boys were learning how to march around the playground smartly, the girls were drawing hopscotch with coloured chalk on the concrete playground floor and then they were walking around the clock school with dictionaries precariously balanced on their heads. Numerous lessons came and went such as: handwriting, spelling, maths, bridge making and reading.

“It was very scary because if you were caught talking by a teacher you would have to stand up and get told off in front of the rest of the children. My favourite part was the bridge making. When we got separated and went outside, the boys had to do drills and march and walk smartly across the playground.” Rylee Year 5

This day was thoroughly enjoyed by the whole of Year 5 although it was frightening when you got told off. Hopefully most children in younger years will have an equally enjoyable experience when they move up.

    Jack And The Catalysts

On 26thNovember 2019, Aston Clinton School were in for a treat. A neighbouring secondary school called Tring Park School took to the stage and performed a wonderful science-themed show called Jack and the Catalysts. They told us about solids, liquids and gases, the water cycle and elements.

‘I loved learning about matter and science in a fun way,’ commented Amelia in year six.

Charlie in year five told us, ‘I loved all of the songs the Catalysts sang.’

‘My favourite part was when Jack didn’t understand what the Catalysts meant when they tried to teach him science… I thought it was really funny,’ reported Elliot in year four.

It is clear to say that this special occasion was thoroughly enjoyed by pupils of all ages. We will be looking forward to it next year!

  • School Pantomime

Wed 04 Dec 2019 Year 6 News Team

On Tuesday 4thDecember, Aston Clinton School witnessed a spectacular pantomime performance… Snow White! Similar to other pantomimes, it was a fun show where the actors interacted with the audience.

It was just like Snow White but with a twist; instead of the seven dwarfs there were forest folk: Giggle box, Goggle box and Google box.

    “Spectacular!”

“It was really funny. They even made some of the teachers dance!”
