  • Amazing Birds of Bray

    Wed 02 Oct 2019

On Tuesday 1st October Year 2 had a visit from Birds of Bray. Here is an account of what they learned:

Firstly we met an expert on birds of prey.  Her name was Sue.  We met five different birds; one of them was an American Kestrel called Bandit.  He was my favourite because I LOVE kestrels!  Finally we got to hold one of the owls and had our pictures taken.  It was amazing.

    Did you know:

    1.  Owls can't fly in the rain because their wings get wet.

    2.  Owls only eat meat that is fluffy.

  • Scavenger Hunt

    Fri 05 Apr 2019 HS

The whole school were out today at Green Park to take part in the annual Scavenger Hunt.

The year 6 House Captains and Vice Captains were responsible for ensuring all the children in their house were in a team and that each team had the information they needed about what to collect.

Mrs macdonald and her team have organised all the necessary details that make the event go smoothly, including ensuring a large team of volunteers know who they are looking after and what they need to do.

The children have come back tired, but happy. The weather was kind to us and every team worked hard to find everything on the list. This year's tricky item was to find an acorn. Some groups did, so it was possible!

Thank you to everyone involved for making this a lovely end to the term.

  • Victorian day in year 5

    Thu 29 Nov 2018 HS

This week year 5 went to school- Victorian style!

They came to school dressed as Victorian children and spent all day having lessons in the Clock School.

Good manners were reinforced as the children had  to stand whenever an adult entered the room and greet them in an appropriate manner.

They had their fingernails inspected, had to recite their times tables and spellings, practice their handwriting and calculate problems using pounds, shillings and pence.

There was some practical construction work in the afternoon, but the overall view was that school life was not much fun in Victorian days. There was a lot of agreement that school is much more interesting in 2018!
